Solar de Líbano Crianza is a red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja made basically with Tempranillo and with a little Graciano and Grenache Tinta. It is produced by Bodegas Castillo de Sajazarra.

Bodegas Castillo de Sajazarra is in the west of Haro, in the highest part of La Rioja Alta. The Líbano family bought the Castillo de Sajarra and began to make wine initially for their own consumption, before becoming the winery they are today. In 1973 they built the new winery in the castle gardens, in a unique environment.

Each plot used to make Solar de Líbano Crianza is vinified separately at a maximum temperature of 26 ºC. It is aged on fine lees to give more volume and creaminess to the wine until the malolactic fermentation begins naturally, with no lactic acid bacteria added.

Solar de Líbano Crianza is aged for 18 months in American and French oak barrels and completes its refining with 3 further months in 20,500 litre French oak vats. Lastly it rests in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months before being marketed, so that it comes onto the market at its optimum point.

Solar de Líbano Crianza is a typical barrel-aged Rioja wine. It is easy to drink and can accompany a host of meat dishes.

As in all European countries, many Spanish wines owe their reputation to the efforts of some traditional families and some large companies that have kept two basic requirements: quality and personality. This family companies have managed to gather their own heritage that allows them to make wine “at home” with quality assurance. An example of this is the winery Castillo de Sajazarra. Since its beginnings in the early 70s of the last century, it has made wines with their own seal, and with the inimitable style of La Rioja Alta.
Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
