Before there was technology that could immediately separate the skins from the must, white wines were made macerated with skins. In other words, how we make “trendy” orange wines now. These are white wines with a red soul which, although they have recently become very fashionable, are actually the result of a return to the way things used to be done. And under that premise, in a quest to recover ancient traditions, Clémentine Bouveron and Gianmarco Antonuzzi founded Le Coste. This winery was established in Gradoli, Gianmarco’s hometown, in the Lazio region. Through a surprising collection of wines, they showcase the true essence of their natural environment, without a single additive, year after year.

Their orange wine Le Coste Bianco de Coccio comes from 14 hectares of vineyards that grow alongside olive trees, chestnut trees, oak trees, bushes and herbs of all kinds. It is a blend of mainly the Procanico variety accompanied by Malvasía, Moscatel and other white varieties. Their approach is completely natural and based on the principles of permaculture and biodynamics. Once the grapes have reached optimum ripeness, they are macerated with the skins for 1 month. They then undergo spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. The wine then rests for 12 months in terracotta amphorae before bottling without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.

Le Coste Bianco de Coccio presents itself as an orange wine made through a living tradition which, in the hands of Clémentine and Gianmarco, is the result of dedication and skill. A return to how things used to be!
