Characteristics Domaine Gramenon Vie On y Est
Domaine Gramenon Vie On and Est is a natural white wine from the AOC Côtes du Rhône, a coupage of Viognier and Clairette produced by Domaine Gramenon.
Domaine Gramenon was founded in 1978, and in a short time has managed to be one of the most prestigious wineries in the southern Rhone. Many of its vineyards are old, and it even has a Grenache plot that is over one hundred years old! It produces unique natural wines, without adding sulphites or filtering them, so that in this way they can better express the varieties used and the terroir they come from.
The vineyards for Domaine Gramenon Vie On and Est are around 30 years old and produce approximately 40 hectolitres per hectare. Their soils are siliceous sandstones. Due to their proximity to the coast, they usually receive fresh breezes from the sea around 12 o'clock in the morning. This freshness helps their ripening to be slow and balanced. They are grown biodynamically and are harvested manually.
Domaine Gramenon Vie On and Est is vinified in barrels and fermented with native yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is either allowed or prevented depending on the vintage, and the wine ends up being aged on lees for 6 months without any racking during the ageing process.
