Summer wines

15/06/2022 Winemaking

After a long winter, a hot and, above all, very entertaining summer is emerging. And with the high temperatures, your body wants to go out and celebrate with your friends. On a terrace, on the beach, in the countryside and even on the balcony of your house, aperitifs, lunches and dinners can turn into great parties. What better way to liven it up than with refreshing, light, fun wines. Whatever their color and style, wines for a fantastic summer are waiting for you.

8 refreshing alternatives for coping with high temperatures

Miraval Rosé

You’ll find glamour and seduction in Miraval Rosé. Bought in 2011 by the famous actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and managed by the Perrin family, one of the most prestigious winemaking families in the Rhone Valley, the winery presents a fresh, fruity, flavoursome rosé, ideal for enjoying on sunny days in pure Hollywood style.

Another of the rosé wines we’re devoted to is this Roselito. A rosé wine with the soul of a white wine from one of the most experienced winemakers in Ribera del Duero and Bordeaux. Under the Bodega Antidote brand, Bertrand Sourdais has managed to bring out the maximum intensity of the fruit to enjoy a new, fresh, floral wine that goes perfectly with long summer evenings.

Meinklang Prosa Rosé Frizzante

If pink is for summer, pink with bubbles is for the party. Slightly fizzy, juicy and naturally low in alcohol, Meinklang Prosa Rosé Frizzante is a wine created by biodynamic winemaking couple Anneliese and Werner Mitchlit especially for their wedding day. A sparkling rosé wine in the pét-nat style that reflects the Meinklang style, a winery located in Burgenland (Austria), and is an unconditional fan of Rudolf Steiner's theories.

Ceretto Moscato d'Asti

To cope with high temperatures, a moscato d'Asti is always a winner. A delicious sparkling white wine with low alcohol content produced in the Piedmont region, whose sweet and fruity flavour charms palates. One of the wineries with the most control over this issue is the Italian group Ceretto. With this Ceretto Moscato d'Asti, they not only demonstrate their mastery of this kind of winemaking, but also show us the typicity of this rich wine-growing area in northern Italy.

Bermejo Malvasia Seco

The volcanic area of La Geria on the island of Lanzarote (Canary Islands) is one of the most amazing wine regions in the world and Malvasia is its star variety. A spectacular lunar landscape where the volcanic soil, wind and high temperatures are tackled with small stone walls. This Bermejo Malvasía Seco, produced by the Los Bermejos winery, is a pleasant, fresh and glyceric white wine, ideal for getting to know first-hand the purity and complexity of a terroir which is impossible to replicate.

François Crochet Sancerre Blanc

If there’s a region that knows about white wines, it’s undoubtedly the Loire (France). François Crochet, an intrepid winemaker who soaked up the teachings of various wineries in France and New Zealand before taking the reins of his own winery, has created Francois Crochet Sancerre Blanc, a full-blown Sauvignon blanc identified by the freshness, liveliness and delicacy that radiates from the glass. Irresistible for never-ending summer nights.

Anselmo Mendes Contact Alvarinho

If we’re talking about freshness, we’re talking about Albariño, and Anselmo Mendes, the Portuguese winemaker recognized worldwide for his innovative spirit, knows how to get the best out of this native variety from the Miño River like no one else. With Anselmo Mendes Contacto Alvarinho, a white wine macerated with skins, he achieves a complex, mineral Albariño with an attractive bitter and very varietal touch that becomes the best ally of summer dinner parties.

Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon

Because red wines are great for the summer too. Just ask Jean Foillard, a new-generation winegrower who works against the tide of conventional practices. This natural carbonic maceration wine takes us back to the roots in Morgon, in the Burgundy region (France). A fresh, ample and gourmand Gamay single varietal that, despite its youth, promises great aging potential. Undoubtedly, the king of barbecues this summer.
