In May the days get longer and the temperatures get warmer. This fifth month of the year reminds us that summer is just around the corner. And there’s no better way to celebrate than with friends. That is why this month our recommendations are more refreshing than ever. Delicious wines and sparkling wines that will go down a treat, whatever your plans are. Will you join us?

6 recommendations for enjoying in good weather

Ganevat J'en Veux Encore

Made through biodynamic principles and minimal intervention, the 14th generation of this family winery located in Rotalier, south of Jura (France) has become a leading producer of natural wines. The champions of this way of doing things, siblings Anne and Jean-François Ganevat, have created this Ganevat J'en Veux Encore, a wine full of freshness that, as the name “I want more” suggests, will see you going back for another glass.

Diego Magaña Anza

Two years ago, Decanter magazine named Diego Magaña as one of the 10 winemakers changing the wine landscape in Spain, so he is really worth finding out about. Having been trained personally by prestigious winemaker Raúl Pérez, Diego has ventured into the wonderful Rioja Alavesa to create Diego Magaña Anza, a coupage of Rioja varieties aged in foudres that is perfect to open on special occasions. And there’s a lot to celebrate in May.

Domaine Ostertag Les Jardins Riesling

Another of our new wines this May is Domaine Ostertag Les Jardins Riesling. Made by André Ostertag, a biodynamic winegrower at the foot of the Lower Rhine, this wine manages to faithfully express the Riesling character and the white sand, quartz, clay and marl soils. A nonconformist from Alsace who is catching people’s attention throughout France.

UBE Miraflores

Now to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in Cádiz, where we find a particularly unique wine. This is where Ramiro Ibáñez makes his wines by experimenting with the different albariza soils that are so typical of the area. UBE Miraflores is the result of this experimentation. A white wine made with the native Palomino Fino variety and aged in selected barrels with a yeast cap. Refreshing salinity!

La Spinetta Moscato D'Asti Bricco Quaglia

If you’re looking to raise a glass, a moscato d'Asti is just what you need. A leading sparkling wine from this transalpine area that has been traditionally enjoyed alongside sweet desserts, but now it can also be enjoyed with aperitifs, brunch or in the middle of the afternoon. Made by one of the flagship wineries in Piedmont and Tuscany, La Spinetta Moscato D'Asti Bricco Quaglia attests to this. A sweet, fresh and low alcohol sparkling wine that is always ready for a toast.

Bérêche & Fils Le Cran Premier Cru

Serving champagne is always a good idea. And if you choose one from one of today’s more daring wineries, you are sure to wow your guests. The Bérêche family is revolutionising the Champagne scene, working meticulously in ecological and biodynamic ways to convey all the beauty and elegance of the terroir. This is how Bérêche & Fils Le Cran Premier Cru is made, a champagne with aromatic intensity and beautiful minerality.
