Emmanuel Darnaud Saint-Joseph La Dardouille

Tasting notes Emmanuel Darnaud Saint-Joseph La Dardouille 2021
Red wine Aged in wood Respectful agriculture. 18 meses en barricas de roble.
Emmanuel Darnaud Saint-Joseph La Dardouille 2021 captivates you from the outset with its profound and intricate aromas. On the nose, ripe raspberry notes unfold, interwoven with subtle hints of dried herbs and a delicate floral nuance. Upon tasting, its texture is velvety and opulent, owing to the gentle maturation in wood. An elegant freshness is present on the palate, accompanied by a pleasing hint of vanilla and a dry finish marked by well-integrated tannins. What sets this wine apart is its perfect harmony between fruits, spices, and a well-structured body, ideal for those who appreciate intense and balanced wines.

About Emmanuel Darnaud Saint-Joseph La Dardouille
In the heart of the northern Rhône, Emmanuel Darnaud not only cultivates vines... he cultivates commitment. His estate, located in La Roche de Glun, holds the HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) level 3 certification, the highest standard of environmental sustainability in France. This certification ensures practices that respect biodiversity, water, soil, and the entire ecosystem surrounding the vineyard.
What does this mean in practice? Manual harvesting, carefully tended soils, balanced fertilisation, and rational phytosanitary treatments. A conscientious viticulture designed to protect both the environment and the quality of the wine.
Emmanuel Darnaud Saint-Joseph La Dardouille is the purest expression of this philosophy. Crafted entirely from syrah sourced from granite soils and vines aged between 30 and 80 years in the AOC Saint-Joseph (in the Rhône), this wine ferments in open wooden vats after partial destemming and then matures for 18 months in used barrels and demi-muids, allowing the terroir to speak without artifice.
Emmanuel Darnaud Saint-Joseph La Dardouille is a vibrant example of what well-understood sustainable viticulture can offer: depth, character, and an elegance that speaks softly yet profoundly.
Because at Domaine Emmanuel Darnaud, sustainability is not a trend. It is a way of living wine, respecting the land, honouring tradition, and looking towards the future.
