About Viña Pomal Alto de la Caseta
Viña Pomal Alto de la Caseta is a red wine produced by Bodegas Bilbaínas in Haro, D.O.Ca. La Rioja.
Viña Pomal is one of the great brands of Bodegas Bilbaínas. Viña Pomal's first vintage was in 1908. It is currently a vineyard area of 120 hectares.
It is a line of wines that has known how to adjust to the new times, without losing the essence of its classic origin.
Viña Pomal Alto de la Caseta is a wine made from Tempranillo from a vineyard located at the top of a meander of the river Ebro, planted with vines that are over 35 years old.
Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard and in the winery, on a selection table. Once the grapes are destemmed, they are transferred, without stomping, to open deposits specially acquired for this purpose. Here, the grapes ferment for 28 days, and at the same time they macerate and go through pump-overs and delestages. Using only the free-run must (vino de lágrima), they fill 11 French oak barrels with medium roast and non-roasted lids, where the must will age for 20 months.
Viña Pomal Alto de la Caseta is an intense, balanced and round wine. The aromas of ripe black fruits stand out, as well as flowery notes and elegant roasted notes from its ageing. In the mouth, its harmony between intensity, amplitude and suppleness stands out. A wine full of shades that caresses our palate.
