Viña Errazuriz Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Valle del Aconcagua
(Valle del Aconcagua)
Viña Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Sauvignon Blanc is a tasty and mineral white wine. The purest expression of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc!
It would be a crime to cover up all the nuances of this wine. This is why the winemaking process is simple: manual harvesting, pressing (where only 70% of the grapes are destemmed) and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. That’s it!
The Viña Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Sauvignon Blanc clusters are grown in the Aconcagua Valley in northern Chile, specifically on the coast (about 12 km from the Pacific Ocean). This area was discovered in 1870 by Maximiano Errazuriz, founder of this winery, who, unlike the other winemakers of his time, decided to plant different varieties in this area. The result was spectacular, as it turned out that the local loamy, shale and slate soils were wonderful for cultivating vines in. And this area, between the coast and the Andes Mountains, is influenced by cold air currents coming from the sea and down from the mountains. This peculiar and unique feature encourages contrasting temperatures between day and night, resulting in properly ripened grapes.
The coastal vineyards, where Viña Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Sauvignon Blanc comes from was planted in 2005. But we shouldn’t be mislead, because despite this, Viña Errazuriz is one of the most well known wineries with the longest tradition in Chile.
Viña Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Sauvignon Blanc 2018 is a wine with a straw yellow colour and greenish highlights. The nose is mainly citrus, with hints of mandarin and grapefruit peel combined with mango and herbal touches. It maintains this character on the palate with freshness. Well balanced and persistent. Long, mineral and very elegant finish.
