The name Marcello is made up of the words “mare” (meaning sea) and “cielo” (meaning sky). Two vital elements in the wines made at the latest project set up by the prestigious Mazzei winemaking family within the DOC Prosecco in Treviso (Veneto). The instigator, Giovanni Mazzei together with his mother Alessandra Marcello, a direct descendant of the Villa Marcello estate, has launched his first prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine that, due to its versatility, freshness and affordability, has attracted significant international interest.
As the name “millesimato” suggests, Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Rosé Millesimato is made from grapes from a single vintage. These are vines of the Glera variety lying 25 metres above sea level, where the soil is silty clay and where work is carried out under the influence of the sea and the sky. In the winery, the wine undergoes a primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures with specially selected yeasts for 14 days, followed by 4 months of aging on the lees. The second fermentation takes place for approximately 60 days in an autoclave at a controlled temperature.
The result is Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Rosé Millesimato. A rosé prosecco that honours the noble coat of arms of the Marcello family; a golden wave representing the sea, on a blue background evoking the sky. A toast between the sea and the sky!
Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Rosé Millesimato 2020 is a fruity rosé sparkling wine with varietal aromas of ripe apple and pear accompanied by intense floral notes. On the palate it is fragrant, fresh and full-bodied. A prosecco with persistent bubbles, strong acidity and great length.
