About Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Millesimato
Today prosecco is undisputedly one of the most famous Italian wines in the world. However, this sparkling wine was already being produced as far back as the Roman times with the native Glera variety, a grape that grew near the village of Prosecco, a suburb of Trieste that occupied a narrow strip of territory between the Adriatic coast and the Slovenian border. The name “prosecco” is actually of Slovenian origin, and comes from prozek or “path through the forest”, a name chosen because of the characteristics of the village. From then on, production began to spread to a large number of regions, and the areas with the greatest impact were Friuli and Veneto. In this latter region, one of the families that has always been deeply involved in wine production is undoubtedly the Marcello family. Their Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Millesimato is the latest project by Giovanni Mazzei, a descendant of one of Italy’s most powerful and wealthy winemaking families, and the son of Alessandra Marcello, one of the Villa’s owners.
This Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Millesimato, as the name suggests, is a prosecco made from grapes from a single harvest. These grapes of the Glera variety are planted in loamy clay soils and are harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, once the grapes have been destemmed and pressed, the resulting must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures with specially selected yeasts for 14 days. It then undergoes a second fermentation in large steel tanks (Charmat method) for approximately 60 days at a controlled temperature.
So, with this Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Millesimato, the Mazzei family expands its range of wines and delights us with its most personal version of one of the most famous sparkling wines in the world.
2022 | Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Millesimato 2022 is a sparkling wine distinguished by its harmoniously balanced sweetness and a fruit-forward profile. On the nose, it unfolds delightful scents of green apple, citrus fruits, and white peach, heralding a spirited tasting experience. On the palate, the effervescence pirouettes with zest, enhancing its crispness and delicacy. This wine is an impeccable selection for those in pursuit of a rejuvenating and cheerful libation, perfect for toasting life's extraordinary occasions. |

2020 |
Villa Marcello Prosecco Brut Millesimato 2020 is a fruity sparkling wine with intense apple fragrances, backed by floral aromas of acacia and hints of bread crust. On the palate it is glyceric, fresh and elegant. A full-bodied, savoury prosecco with a long-lasting finish. |
