Ventisquero Tara Chardonnay is a natural white wine made by Viña Ventisquero with the Chardonnay variety in the Huasco Valley, in the Atacama desert (Chile).
Viña Ventisquero is run by Felipe Tosso, a Chilean winemaker who is committed to studying different soils. With vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, the Apalta Valley and the Maipo Valley, he has managed to create authentic wines that perfectly reflect the expression of his terroirs. These are modern-style wines made under the premise of “one step further” and now known all around the world.
Ventisquero Tara Chardonnay comes from vineyards planted in calcareous soils with alluvial stone. In an area with an extremely dry climate, the Pacific Ocean, lying 20 km away, provides the necessary humidity for the grapes to ripen beautifully. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, 50% of the Ventisquero Tara Chardonnay grapes are crushed by foot in whole bunches. The must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and then the wine ages in these same tanks for 21 months. Finally, the wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering.
Ventisquero Tara Chardonnay is part of Felipe Tosso’s most extreme wine range. This is a unique super natural wine made in a desert area with a Pacific sea breeze.
