About Valtravieso Rupture
Valtravieso Rupture is a red wine produced by the Bodega Valtravieso winery in IGP Castilla y León, using two great foreign varieties: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Valtravieso is a winery located in one of the highest uplands of the Ribera de Duero called "La Revilla" (at an altitude of 915 metre); a privileged territory that thanks to the limestone soil and the extreme climate produces top level wines.
At Valtravieso Rupture they strive to get the most out of theirMerlot and Cabernet Sauvignon; two varieties that while not specific to the D.O. Ribera de Duero ripen very well in the territory. The harvest is carried out in October, when the grapes are at their optimum ripeness.
The two varieties for Valtravieso Rupture are vinified separately. The Merlot is first macerated cold for 18 days and then undergoes fermentation with native yeasts at 20ºC. The Cabernet meanwhile also macerates cold, and is fermented after 10 days. In the same way, each variety remains separately in the barrel for 14 months. It spends 24 months in the bottle before coming onto the market.
Valtravieso Rupture is a red wine that breaks with conventions to demonstrate that varieties outside of their habitat can reach their maximum splendour in favourable conditions.

2016 | On the nose Valtravieso Rupture 2016 contains ripe red and black fruit with spicy and earthy nuances. The entry into the mouth is powerful and it has an enveloping and lingering mouthfeel. |
