Valdespino Rare Spirits Malt Whisky

Whisky (75 cl.).
Valdespino Rare Spirits Malt Whisky boasts a straw-golden hue. The bouquet is exceptionally intricate, featuring hints of tobacco and honey. Upon tasting, it presents an elegant, velvety, and refined profile, accented by nuances of plum and a medley of spices. The finish is enduring, characterized by mineral and smoky undertones.
About Valdespino Rare Spirits Malt Whisky
The wineries Valdespino, situated in the Andalusian town of Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain, have been crafting history for centuries. This statement isn't solely in reference to their wines. As early as the 12th century, Don Alfonso Valdespino, a noble knight and the first member of this family to cultivate vines and produce wine, is mentioned. The lands were granted to him by King Alfonso X as a token of gratitude for his assistance during the Reconquest and in the battle against the Arabs.
Since then, this family has been penning its legacy, chapter by chapter, trading their wines across the globe. However, amidst these dealings, the Valdespino were also crafting a private family cellar, exclusively reserved for personal use, where they stored little treasures such as brandies aged over 30 years, rums from Cuba itself, or whiskies like Valdespino Rare Spirits Malt Whisky.
Historically—and still today—Sherry casks previously seasoned with fortified wines are highly prized in Scotland. This was well known to the Valdespino wineries in 1955, who had commercial relations with the Scots. In that year, during one of these trips, a selection of malt whisky from various distilleries was chosen to be added directly to the family reserve. Here, aged in the traditional criaderas and solera system, it has remained until its launch in the year 2016 under the name of Valdespino Rare Spirits Malt Whisky.
Valdespino Rare Spirits Malt Whisky boasts an average age of fifteen years, and its casks of Palo Cortado and Oloroso make it an exceptionally distinctive whisky. This offers direct access to one of the most fascinating family cellars in the south of Spain.
