Trénel Morgon is a single-variety Gamay red wine produced by the Trénel winery in the AOC Morgon in Beaujolais, France.
The Trénel Morgon wine is made with grapes from vines aged around 55 years old planted on decomposed schist soils and very old igneous rocks that give the region’s wines their characteristic aromas, a unique feature that the winemakers describe as “morgonner.” The plots are located on the Mont du Py hills, on very sunny, steep, south-facing slopes at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. Wines from the Morgon area, located in the heart of Beaujolais, are described as best representing the character of the terroir.
To make this wine, the bunches are partially destemmed and macerated for about 12 days. The resulting wine is aged in cement tanks and bottled without clarifying, only undergoing a light filtration.
The Trénel Morgon wine is a great value way to experience the essence of Morgon through its flagship variety, the Gamay.
