About Torre Fornello Gutturnio Frizzante
Torre Fornello is a former noble residence in the province of Piacenza, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, which was renovated by the Sgorbati family in 1972. An incomparable setting where weddings and exclusive high-class events are held, but also where, Enrico Sgorbati began his winemaking adventure in 1998 with the creation of Torre Fornello, in honour of the area’s old ovens. With 13 hectares of vineyards, Enrico is committed to recovering an ancient family tradition, paying special attention to environmental sustainability and an increasingly less invasive human intervention. The result is wines that exude their terroir entirely. These wines fully reflect the terroir of the DOC Colli Piacentini. This is perfectly clear to see with every label they release.
One of these bottled terroirs is Torre Fornello Gutturnio Frizzante, a sparkling wine made from the Barbera and Croatina grapes that Enrico owns on the same estate. These vines are over 30 years old and planted in clay loam soil at 180 m above sea level. They are cultivated using certified organic agriculture and the grapes are harvested strictly by hand in small boxes. Once they reach the winery, each grape variety is vinified separately with a maceration period of 10-15 days. It is then left in an autoclave for secondary fermentation and refermentation for at least 2 months.
The result of a place with great scenic charm, the Torre Fornello Gutturnio Frizzante wine is as rustic as it is elegant. An artisan frizzante that nobly expresses the land it comes from.
2020 |
Torre Fornello Gutturnio Frizzante 2020 is a vivacious sparkling wine brimming with fresh aromas of red berries, complemented by hints of wild shrubbery. On the palate, it is rich and expansive, showcasing a vinous character with effervescent bubbles, a lively progression, and a delightfully persistent finish. |
