Succés El Pedregal is a white wine produced by Succés Vinícola in Barberà de la Conca (Tarragona), D.O.Conca de Barberà.

 

Succés Vinícola was created by two young people, Mariona Vendrell and Albert Canela, when in 2011 they had the opportunity to start their project in the "viver de celleristes" (lit. incubator for winemakers). The "viver de celleristes" allows young people to develop their wine project, giving them the necessary space and machinery to make their wines for up to 10 years.

Wines from Succés Vinícola aim to represent the varieties and the native terroir of D.O. Conca de Barberà, using the local varieties Parellada and Trepat in more than 90%. To enhance the character of their wines, they cultivate the vineyards organically, using traditional viticulture and with utmost respect for the ecosystem.

 

Succés El Pedregal is a wine made from Parellada from a vineyard with the same name, El Pedegral, planted in 1970 at 600 metres of altitude on soils with pebbles.

They are manually harvested and placed in boxes. The grapes are selected in the vineyards. Once they arrive at the winery, the flor must spontaneously ferments in stainless steel deposits. The wine is stabilised with the winter cold. No added sulphites.

As with many other Catalonian wine regions, the DO. Conca de Barberà is developing its own territorial identity that over the years has been redefining the personality of the wines and the region, with the help of the red Trepat grape variety. The Trepat grape can be used to produce good sparkling rosés, rosés with character, fresh red wines, as well as elegant blanc de noirs. In just a few years the region and this grape variety have shown their potential, their versatility, and the possibility of carrying out R&D (Research and Development) with them. There are still few wineries who produce single variety wines using this grape, but most importantly, all of them have become aware of the obligation to enhance the uniqueness that defines the territory and the new style of wine to be imposed in the twenty-first century.
