A glass of Stéphane Ogier Cote Rotie Mon Village is a great way to get to know the increasing value of the Côtes Rotie wines. A wood-aged Syrah red wine with a delicious profile that is hard to resist.
Stéphane Ogier is a Rhône winemaker you must experience. Since he took over the reins of the family winery in 1997 and began combining the experience passed down through seven generations with the new techniques he learned in Burgundy, his wines have been turning heads. There are more and more people who know who he is and love his work.
His Stéphane Ogier Cote Rotie Mon Village wine is made to be a pure expression of the producer’s village. It is made with fruit from the winery’s youngest vines planted in two Cote-Rotie soils (Cote Brune and Cote Blonde) composed of granite and mica schist.
Once the grapes have been manually harvested and selected, 10% of the stalks are left on and Stéphane Ogier Cote Rotie Mon Village macerates and ferments with native yeasts in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for 18 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new.
Because of its richness, freshness and juiciness Stéphane Ogier Cote Rotie Mon Village is a beautiful introduction to the wines of Côtes Rôtie. A cuvée that beautifully showcases the Syrah variety in its natural habitat.
Stéphane Ogier Cote Rotie Mon Village 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of red and black fruits enhanced with herbal and spicy notes. On the palate it is rich, juicy and enveloping. A wine with a marked acidity, silky tannins and a long finish.
