Son Vell Corrent is a young organic red wine from the VT Illes Balears produced by Son Vell Vinyes i Vi in Majorca with the Manto Negro, Fogoneu, Callet, Cabernet Sauvignon y Batista varieties.
Son Vell Vinyes i Vi is run by Toni Sureda and his father Guillem. They have 10 hectares of their own vineyards in Son Macià between Manacor and Felanitx, one of the best wine-growing areas in Mallorca. Most of their grapes are sold to other wineries, but they keep a small amount to make their own organic and old-fashioned wines.
Son Vell Corrent comes from their own vineyards planted with native varieties that are cultivated without the use of herbicides, pesticides or any other chemical products. Grass is allowed to grow among the vines, the sheep graze around them and biodynamic treatments made with manure and nettles are used. The grapes are then harvested manually in 12kg crates. When the grapes reach the winery, they macerate and ferment spontaneously with native yeasts.
Son Vell Corrent is a small- production, young and easy to drink Mediterranean wine. A table wine from the island of Mallorca.
