About Sextant Bourgogne Chardonnay

Sextant Bourgogne Chardonnay is a natural single-variety Chardonnay white wine produced by the Sextant winery in the A.O.C. Bourgogne, in Burgundy, France.

To make the Sextant Bourgogne Chardonnay wine, the clusters are collected by hand and when they reach the winery they are crushed and pressed directly. The must rests in tanks for around 36 hours to be more easily racked before fermentation, which takes place spontaneously in used barrels.

The resulting wine ages for 12-months with its fine lees in barrels aged between five and ten years old.

Sextant is the personal project of Julien Altaber, a young vigneron who grew up in southern Burgundy and has trained with various local producers. In 2002, he met Dominique Derain, who shared his passion and knowledge about biodynamic agriculture and natural wines.

Since 2007, Julien Altaber has been making his own wines starting with strenuous work in the vineyard to cultivate high quality grapes as respectfully as possible and with as little intervention as possible to make honestly expressive wines.

2017 Sextant Bourgogne Chardonnay 2017 is a profiled and mineral white wine that offers aromas of stone fruits, lemon zest and grapefruit accompanied by subtle salty hints. On the palate it has a fresh and crisp acidity that is well balanced with a creamy and elegant feel.
