About Selva Capuzza Madér
There are many artists who decide to have a go at making wine. But for Luca Formentini, a music producer, wine has been part of his life since birth. The fourth generation of the Selva Capuzza family winery, in the nineties he took over the family winery with the aim of highlighting the beauty of the territory. And he has more than succeeded! His labels are authentic works of art resulting from working with recovered native varieties and organic viticulture.
By choosing the name “madér”, which is the name for a vine’s branch in the Lombard dialect, Luca pays tribute to the raw material. Selva Capuzza Madér is the result of the traditional blend of the native Groppello, Sangiovese, Barbera and Marzemino varieties from a selection of the estate’s oldest vineyards in the DOC Garda Classico Superiore. They use organic agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually in 20 kg boxes. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and crushed to begin fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The maceration of the skins usually lasts between 8 and 10 days with several pump-overs per day. The wine is then racked into second, third and fourth use French oak barrels, where it ages for 12 to 18 months. Finally, after blending, the wine is bottled and aged before release.
Signed by the Podere Selva Capuzza winery, one of the region’s most representative, Selva Capuzza Madér aims to be a tribute to its roots and its territory. A red wine made with local varieties that, like music, fills the body and soul.
2017 |
Selva Capuzza Madér 2017 is a concentrated red wine with intense notes of ripe black fruit, peppery notes and attractive hints of leather and chocolate. On the palate it is smooth, warm and enveloping. A complex wine with velvety tannins, noticeable acidity and a sweet and persistent finish. |
