About Reyneke Cornerstone
Reyneke Cornerstone is an organic red wine coupage of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties made by the Reyneke winery in Coastal Region, South Africa.
You cannot make a great wine without good grapes and there is no way to grow good grapes without having good workers. That is why Reyneke Cornerstone is a charitable wine where the sale profits are given to projects that benefit the winery workers and their families.
In South Africa, where houses and work are limited, it is natural for parents to want their children to have better options. This is why employees have chosen to own their homes and support their children’s education, which is gradually becoming a reality through this charity project.
To make the Reyneke Cornerstone wine, there is an intense selection process for the clusters and grapes, which come from the estate’s best biodynamic vineyards, and ferment in Nomblot concrete eggs. The resulting wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new and the rest are second and third use. After barrel selection it ages for an additional 4 months in the tank.
The wine is bottled and rests in the cellar for a short time to finish rounding before being sold.
Reyneke Cornerstone is, without a doubt, a very interesting wine that shows the best expression of Stellenbosch through a classic Bordeaux style coupage.

2015 | Reyneke Cornerstone 2015 is a red wine that offers aromas of black fruits, especially blackcurrant, on the nose, accompanied by spicy nuances, tobacco leaf and graphite minerality. On the palate it reveals an intense freshness and concentration with well structured tannins. An elegant and fragrant red wine with great aging potential. |
