Planots is a red wine produced by Celler Cal Pla in D.O. Priorat located in Porrera.
Celler de Cal Pla is a small family-run winery that has been producing wines since 1814. A know-how and passion that has been put into practice from time immemorial, and has been passed on until the current seventh generation.
Planots is made with Grenache and Carignan grapes in equal parts from vines that are over 100 years old, with yields of 500 g per plant. After a selective manual harvest and long macerations, the wine rests for 16 months in new French oak barrels.
It is the winery’s most concentrated wine, combining the low yield of the vines with a very extractive winemaking processing.

Elegant and tasty, well-balanced and full bodied. Broad, bulky attack and very silky on the palate, with lots of fruit and mineral aromas. This is a powerful, concentrated red wine, with sweet tannins and an excellent, perfectly integrated acidity. Very long and persistent finish with lingering fruity sensations.
Very dark, deep picota cherry colour, almost black, with purplish rims. Bright. High robe. Abundant, slow-falling, fine tears show on the glass.

Cal Pla is immersed in a process of controlled unification without losing the philosophy of a small boutique winery that produces high-quality wines and with a marked personality from its strategic location in Priorat. For eight generations, Cal Pla has made bulk wine from the family winery until in 1996, Joan Sangenís, the youngest one of the saga and with oenology studies, decided to introduce bottling and the most up-to-date oenology elements to produce renewed and labelled wines. Wines that transmitted, at the same time, the strength of the tradition of a family that has been dedicated to winemaking for more than two centuries.
