Mas d'en Blei is a small winery in the Priorat region. Located in La Morera de Montsant, it has 17 hectares of vineyards on the banks of the Siurana River where the winery and the old farmhouse (1756) blend in with the surroundings perfectly.
In 2006 the Ferrús Guasch family acquired this small property, and together with the winemaker Jordi Torrella recovered its agricultural value by planting more than 20 thousand vines, mostly indigenous varieties such as Garnacha and Cariñena, in order to start producing quality craft wines.
Petit Blei is a red wine made with Garnacha from vineyards located on south-west facing slopes with soils containing Llicorella (slate).
The grapes are harvested manually and placed in 10-kg boxes. After an initial selection, the grapes are destemmed and another selection is made berry by berry. Before the fermentation starts, they undergo cold maceration for 24 hours. They are fermented for 20-24 days, with manual pigeage being performed daily. The wine is aged for 6 months in 225 litre French oak barrels of medium grain and light medium toast.
