Ron Pacto Navío is a deep mahogany-coloured rum that offers floral aromas on the nose accompanied by notes of dried fruits and hints of vanilla, honey and caramel. The palate is silky and round, revealing flavours reminiscent of cream with cinnamon and spices. A well-balanced rum with a long and complex finish.

About Pacto Navío Rum

It is likely you have tried rum aged in whisky casks, or maybe even in sherry casks. But have you ever tasted a rum aged in Sauterne casks? Pacto Navío is made in a completely artisan way and arrives directly from Cuba, a few kilometres from Havana.

Pacto Navío is the only rum of its kind. The only one to have completed its aging in Sauterne wine barrels. Its origin lies in 1815 when a pact succeeded in re-establishing the trade routes that had been suspended during the Napoleonic wars. This meant France once again began trading its sweet white wine, made in Bordeaux, in the southwest of the country, which was sent to the most exotic and distant lands of the Caribbean. The deal was fair: once the wine barrels were unloaded, they were automatically refilled with Cuban rum (the trip had to have a purpose). And from here the magic would happen in the ship’s cellars, during the three months of the return voyage, when the rum would mix with the remains of the wine that impregnated the barrels.

Today this tradition is revived in Ron Pacto Navío. First, it spends some time in French white oak barrels. It will then be transferred to Sauterne barrels. The result: a totally artisan spirit where once again the most authentic rum meets French wine, achieving a perfect balance.
