Odfjell Orzada Carignan is an ecological red wine aged in stainless steel made by Odfjell with the Carignan variety in the D.O. Maule, in the Central Valley (Chile).
Dan Odfjell, a Norwegian shipowner, discovered the wine wonders of the Central Valley in Chile on one of his trips and decided to turn his winemaking dream into a reality. To do this, he surrounded himself with a group of passionate experts and they began producing organic, vibrant wines with a curated identity.
Odfjell Orzada Carignan comes from vineyards located in the Maule Valley, lying 175m above sea level. The vines grow in clay loam soil and the high temperatures are offset by the cool breeze from the nearby Pacific Ocean. They are cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture and the best bunches are selected manually during the harvest.
In the winery, the Odfjell Orzada Carignan grapes are destemmed and undergo a cold maceration whole for 4 days. The grapes are then fermented in 10,000-litre stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, followed by a post-fermentation maceration for 10 days at 25ºC. Malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously in these same tanks.
Made from a single vineyard in vintages with exceptional fruit, Odfjell Orzada Carignan is named after the founder. A memorable Carignan that honours the principles of the winery.
