O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Godello Puro is a natural, organic, vegan white wine made on lees. It is a single-variety Godello wine made in the D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia) by O Morto Wines.
O Morto Wines is run by Matías Michelini, an Argentine winegrower who, having worked in different wineries in his home country, settled in the heart of Ribeiro to make his own wines. Starting with 4 hectares of vineyards planted with local varieties, he cultivates ecologically and with the utmost care for the terroir with the aim of producing the purest grapes. Grapes that will maintain their purity through minimal intervention winemaking.
O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Godello Puro starts life in the Castrelo do Miño area. These are young vines planted in decomposed slate soils. They are cultivated using organic agriculture with minimal use of copper and sulphur and following the guidelines of the biodynamic calendar. The harvest is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, the O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Godello Puro grapes undergo direct pressing and the resulting must spontaneously ferments with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. It then remains in these tanks with its lees. Finally, it is bottled, undergoing a light cold clarification and without adding sulphites.
Rejecting high yields and minimal control over production, Matías is creating a whole new wine scene in the D.O. Ribeiro. O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Godello Puro is proof of this. A natural wine full of nuances and with a significant amount of freshness and acidity.
