Marimar Acero Chardonnay 2019 is an aromatic white wine with fragrant tropical notes, intermingled with floral hints of jasmine and nuances of white fruit. On the palate it is fresh, intense and enveloping. A classic style wine with a delicate, long and elegant mid-palate.
In a world dominated by men, Marimar Torres has managed to carve out a place for herself among the best. On the one hand, she has been able to make her name known wherever she has gone and, on the other hand, she has set up her own project in California (USA) called Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery that now enjoys great recognition. An American dream come true that not only consolidates the Torres brand, but also exports Spanish varieties to the shores of the Pacific and recovers historic grapes. Wines made and bottled on the same property that have become a symbol of Spanish wine in the USA.
Marimar Acero Chardonnay is a good example. This is a classic European style single-variety Chardonnay that originates from the estate vineyard named Don Miguel (after Marimar’s father) in the Russian River Valley region of California, just 15 km from the Pacific Ocean. It is organically cultivated and yields are very limited to achieve more concentration and balance. Once the grapes have been harvested and selected by hand, the bunches are pressed whole and the resulting must is cold fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. After completing malolactic fermentation, the wine remains on the lees in these same tanks for 9 months before bottling.
Named “Acero” in reference to the fact that it has never been in contact with oak, Marimar Acero Chardonnay is a good example of the Marimar Estate style. A fresh, silky Chardonnay with a very Burgundy profile that is doing very well in the Americas.
