Marañones El Quiebro is a barrel-aged white wine made by Marañones in the D.O. Vinos de Madrid with the Albillo variety.
Marañones was set up by Fernando García Alonso, one of the oenologists responsible for the increasing production of Sierra de Gredos wines and the owner of the J. Fernando Cornejo winery. At the foot of the meeting point between the Sierra de Guadarrama and the Sierra de Gredos, in Sant Martín de Valdeiglesias (Madrid), they make wines that honestly reflect the qualities of a wine region that is increasingly praised by international experts.
The Marañones El Quiebro wine comes from the winery’s youngest Albillo vineyards. These strains were planted in 2013 in sandy loam soils that are poor in organic matter and in an area with a big temperature difference between day and night. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the grapes are harvested manually in 12 kg boxes.
In the winery, the Maranones El Quiebro grapes are gently pressed to begin fermentation in used French oak wood barrels and casks. It then ages for 9 months.
Marañones El Quiebro is the young wine made by this winery. A breakthrough white wine that is subtly hinting towards the future of this winery in the Sierra de Gredos. A white wine with well defined fruit and a salty finish.
