Maison Manchès Condrieu 2017 is a creamy white wine with delicate aromas of white flowers, accompanied by notes of white fruits and hints of smoke and candied ginger. The palate is rich, clean and mellow. A medium-bodied wine with fresh acidity, a very pleasant mid-palate and a long, mineral finish.
Aiming to extract the quintessence of France’s terroirs, Jean-Philippe Manchès is a restless soul. Trained at the wine university of Suze la Rousse, he first created a brand of liqueurs known as Akymia with his brother. Then, with his father, he set up a wine trading company: Maison Orcia and, finally, he joined forces with Pierre Gaillard, a key figure in Rhône viticulture, to make wines under the name La Maison Manchès in the image of his Rhône Valley terroirs. The result of this work is gourmet wines with an authentic signature, both in terms of look and taste, and at a very competitive price. The best introduction to the wines of the Rhone Valley.
In the case of Maison Manchès Condrieu, Pierre Gaillard and Jean-Philippe Manchès, it is an ode to the Viognier. A noble white grape variety native to Condrieu, a small commune in the northern Rhône Valley (France), with great potential for producing full-bodied wines with a soft character. Sourced from vines planted in granitic soils, traditional agriculture is practiced and low yields are obtained naturally. Once ripe, the grapes are harvested and taken to the winery to be selected, destemmed and gently pressed. The resulting must is fermented in oak barrels at a constant temperature of 16ºC-18ºC, where it remains for 9 months until the end of its aging.
A speciality of the small Condrieu denomination, Maison Manchès Condrieu is a single-variety Viognier that beautifully displays the typicity of this aromatic grape variety. A white wine full of minerality, purity and tension that can be enjoyed young or aged for a few months.
