About Les Trois Petiotes
Les Trois Petiotes, the project set up by Valérie Godelu in the heart of Bordeaux, was truly a matter of conviction. Once she had had her three daughters and the family became large, she decided to leave her busy life in the city, where she worked as a financier, to move to the countryside and dedicate herself to what she really loved; her daughters and the vineyard. To do this, she went back to the classroom to study viticulture and acquired three small vineyards in Côtes de Bourg, Tauriac. Here, a far cry from producing industrial quantities, Valérie strives to produce wines “the old-fashioned way” with organic management using biodynamic practices, plant treatments and limited yields. A work of accompanying the process from the vineyard to the winery that allows them to offer surprising natural wines that aren’t bound by the region’s standards.
When it comes to Les Trois Petiotes, the vineyards are planted on a small, well-ventilated plateau with sandy-clay loam soils. These are Malbec and Merlot vines, with an average age of 40 years old, where they don’t use any chemical products that could damage the soil and all work is done by hand. The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes with selection on the vine, in order to keep the grapes intact until they reach the winery. Vinification is carried out with native yeasts in large fibre tanks, with daily pumping over. Maceration lasts 4 weeks and then the wine is aged for 36 months in French oak barrels with no new wood.
Valérie treats her three little vineyards with the same love and care as she does her three young daughters. Hence the name of the project Les Trois Petiotes (the three little ones in French). So each bottle is unique and special. This fresh, silky and powerful wine proves it.
