Kistler Vineyards Cuvée Cathleen Chardonnay is a wood-aged white wine made by Kistler with the Chardonnay variety in AVA Sonoma Valley, California (USA).
The Kistler Vineyards winery was founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and is known for its cult Chardonnays. These are Burgundy style wines that come from vineyards with Grand Cru characteristics and they can be hard to find. They are made in limited productions of fewer than 10,000 boxes and are normally only available through their mailing list. Now available at Decántalo!
Kistler Vineyards Cuvée Cathleen Chardonnay comes from a separate part of the vineyard where the soil is made up of red volcanic ash mixed with broken slate. This is a very special terroir, cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and with very low vine yields. The harvest is carried out at night to keep the fruit in the best possible condition before it reaches the winery.
The Kistler Vineyards Cuvée Cathleen Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed and the resulting must is fermented in subterranean barrel chais with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Kistler Vineyards Cuvée Cathleen Chardonnay has everything you would want from a beautifully crafted Californian Chardonnay. A classic that borders on perfection.
