About Jean Leon Vinya Palau

Jean Leon Vinya Palau is a red wine from the Penedès prepared by the Jean Leon winery. This wine is a varietal Merlot.

Jean Leon Vinya Palau uses grapes from vines planted in 1991 on calcareous clay and sandy soils. The grapes are harvested manually.

The grapes are fermented at a controlled temperature of 26º in stainless steel and then macerated for about 16 days.

Finally, Jean Leon Vinya Palau undergoes aging in French oak barrels for a year. Prior to marketing, the wine rests in the bottle for another six months.

The Jean Leon winery was founded in 1964. It is a tribute to the life of Jean Leon, a Spanish man who began working as a taxi driver in New York and ended up running a successful restaurant catering for the diverse personalities of Hollywood.

2018 Jean Leon Vinya Palau 2018 is a wine that showcases the merlot grape to its fullest extent, unfurling with vivacity and sophistication, and exuding ripe black fruit aromas complemented by balsamic undertones and a delicate hint of sweet licorice. This red glides across the palate with sumptuousness, cloaked in velvety tannins and a finely tuned acidity. It is a full-bodied and well-rounded red wine.
