Galván Mencía

Galván Mencía is a young red wine made by Bodegas Daniel Fernandez with the Mencía variety in the D.O. Monterrei, in Galicia (Spain).

Located in the heart of Monterrei, Bodegas Daniel Fernandez was set up in 2015. An entrepreneurial project created by five partners who produce mature and meaty red wines with a continuous effort to capture the essence of the Monterrei Valley.

Galván Mencía comes from vines planted in slate and shale soils. These vines are traditionally cultivated in an area with significant temperature contrasts of up to 30ºC as they ripen. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are manually harvested.

In the winery, the Galván Mencía grapes are destemmed and then they ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for a short time in French oak barrels before being bottled.

Capturing the essence of Monterrei, Galván Mencía is a modern, daring wine with a touch of its own personality.
