Foillard Morgon 3.14 is an organic and natural, barrel-aged red wine made by Jean Foillard in the AOC Morgon (Burgundy) denomination with the native Gamay variety.

One of the most famous producers in the Beaujolais wine region, Jean Foillard is known for his minimal intervention wines with intense fruits and minerality. He cultivates a total of 15 hectares lying between the Morgon and Fleurie denominations, using organic and ecological practices having been inspired by Marcel La Pierre.

Foillard Morgon 3.14 comes from the best plots in Côte du Py, in Morgon. These are old vines planted in decomposing granite slate soils. The strains are grown without any chemical products and are not harvested until they are perfectly ripe, with rotten or green grapes manually discarded in the vineyard itself.

In the winery, the Foillard Morgon 3.14 grapes are refrigerated before undergoing carbonic maceration. The grapes are placed in cement or wooden tanks where they spontaneously ferment with native yeasts for 3-4 weeks. The wine then ages in old wooden barrels and finally returns to the cement before being bottled, without clarifying or filtering.

The meticulous work of Jean Foillard has seen Beaujolais recover its prestige. And this is clear to see in his Foillard Morgon 3.14 wine. An elegant, honest and mineral red wine that can be enjoyed young or left to age for a long time.
