“Young, but over-prepared” is an expression used to describe someone who, despite their young age, has a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience in a particular field. Someone who has been through advanced training, so much so that they are capable of carrying out highly complex tasks or projects, despite their young age. The Feudi di San Gregorio, winery, which is only 30 years old, is one of the ones responsible for reviving winemaking in the Campania region of Italy. Thanks to their creative vision, they have not only been able to recover and promote native grapes, but they have also applied a winemaking philosophy that is a true art. A project that in less than a quarter of a century has become a symbol of this wine-growing region.
An example of this expertise can be found in Feudi di San Gregorio Visione, a rosé wine that combines past, present and future from the recovery of the Aglianico vine, native to this area of Irpinia. Vines located at about 600 metres above sea level benefit from a wide temperature range and are carefully selected late in the season. In the winery, the clusters are cold macerated on their skins to extract colour and then gently pressed to begin alcoholic fermentation, which is carried out at low temperatures for a few weeks in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine is aged in these same tanks for at least 4 months before being filtered, bottled and sold.
Presented in a designer bottle, Feudi di San Gregorio Visione evokes delicacy and elegance. A fresh, juicy and easy to drink rosé wine that, like the winery where it was born, although young, has a great vision for the future.
