Characteristics Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly is a monovarietal Gamay red wine classified as an AOC Côtes de Brouilly wine and produced by Domaine Lafarge-Vial.
Domaine Lafarge-Vial is the small winery run by Frédéric Lafarge and Chantal Vial located between Chiroubles and Fleurie, in Burgundy. They also work at the Domaine Michel Lafarge in Volnay, Côte de Beaune, but they had the dream of starting this project in Burgundy. They have around 4 hectares of old vines that they cultivate organically and biodynamically. In 2014 they harvested their first vintage, and since then have been producing high quality wines.
The vineyard for Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly is a small 0.66 hectare plot of Gamay planted in 1968. It faces southeast, on slopes on Mont Brouilly, and is planted on granite soils and blue rocks. Tractors are never used in this plot due to its steep slope, so all treatments are performed by hand.
To vinify Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly 25% of the whole bunches are vatted and the rest are destemmed and pressed before being vatted. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts in cement tanks, and lastly the wine ages for a year in used barrels.
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly is a fresh and fruity Gamay with mineral touches and those of cocoa and pepper.
Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Côte de Brouilly 2017 is a ruby red wine that exhibits aromas of dark chocolate, black currant and plums. On the palate it is firm with a medium-high body, bringing cherry and other red fruit flavours, as well as cocoa and a touch of pepper. Its lingering and mineral finish is accompanied by the presence of refined tannins.
