Domaine des Coteaux Blancs Anjou Blanc 2018 is a creamy white wine with citrus aromas, notes of white flowers and lightly toasted accents. On the palate it is smooth, unctuous and balanced. A wine with a sophisticated start, silky passage and saline finish.
When it comes to naming a winery, there is a general trend that involves giving it the name of the owner or property. So when the Hilpert family took over Domaine des Coteaux Blancs (domain of the white hillsides), a 1940s estate, in 2015, they kept this name in honour of the sloping terrain where, in the past, white stones nested atop each other. Sunny slopes that can reach a gradient of over 40% and that stretch across more than 20 hectares in the heart of the Corniche Angevine, in the Loire Valley (France). Thanks to its great natural beauty, this place is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This is where the magic happens. Modesty, Pauline and Marie-Christine, three impressive pioneering women, are in charge of producing a colourful range of wines that reflect this unique terroir.
Based on an environmentally responsible approach, wines such as this Domaine des Coteaux Blancs Anjou Blanc are the ultimate declaration of intent. A 100% Chenin white wine from vines planted on schist soil and cultivated according to organic and biodynamic concepts. Once the ripe grapes have been harvested by hand, they are pressed directly in the winery and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 9 months before being bottled.
The result is the Domaine des Coteaux Blancs Anjou Blanc, an honest and frank white wine born from the most beautiful expression of a very special terroir. With just the right balance of fruit and minerality.
