Didier Fornerol Côte de Nuits-Village Rouge is a barrel-aged red wine made from the Pinot Noir red variety by the Didier Fornerol winery in the AOC Côte de Nuits-Village/Côte-d'Or (Burgundy).

Didier Fornerol left his job as a manager at Domaine de l'Arlot in 1999 to take care of the 6 hectares of vineyards his family owns in the Burgundy town of Corgoloin. Working with different denominations, he is known for whole-cluster fermentation and a very precise aging process.

Didier Fornerol Côte de Nuits-Village Rouge comes from 0.8 hectares divided into three plots with different altitudes and exposures. These strains have an average age of forty years old and are cultivated in an environmentally friendly way and with limited yields. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, the Didier Fornerol Côte de Nuits-Village Rouge grapes are not destemmed and when they have been pressed, they go through a light maceration process with cap plunges and some pumping over. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 14-16 months in barrels, only around 10% of which are new.

Made by Didier Fornerol and Jean-Pierre de Smet himself, Didier Fornerol Côte de Nuits-Village Rouge showcases the virtues of Pinot Noir in Burgundy soil. A delicious, smooth and elegant red.
