Devaux Cuvée D Rosé

“Behind every great man there is a great woman”... Don’t believe us? Well try saying that to Devaux, the champagne house that has achieved triple success thanks to its women. The first woman was Claude-Joseph Devaux, who took over the winery in 1846 when her husband died. Then his son’s wife, Augusta-Maria Herbin, found herself in the same situation in 1875 and finally, history repeated itself again with Marguerite Marie-Louise in 1907. Three talented and courageous ladies who, when widowed, were forced to take on leadership of the company, proving to the world that success isn’t just for men.

But if the Devaux name is known for one thing, it has to be for the collection of prestigious premium sparkling wines that it produces year after year. One example of this is their Devaux Cuvée D Rosé, a champagne made from Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar vineyards and Chardonnay from vineyards located in Côte des Blancs, Côte des Bar, Vitry and Sézanne. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand in small boxes and immediately taken to the winery. There, the musts from the first pressing ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation. Afterwards, the final blend is made with 20% of reserve wines. The second fermentation in the bottle lasts for a minimum of 30 months of aging in racks and a 9 g/l dosage is added at disgorgement.

The result is a sculpted sparkling wine. Devaux Cuvée D Rosé perfectly represents the historical tradition of the AOC Champagne. A true pleasure for the senses that breaks down barriers of genders and numbers.
