Della Staffa Litrò Bianco is a natural white wine made by Vini Conestabile della Staffa with the Grechetto and Trebbiano varieties in the IGP Umbria (Italy).
Conestabile Della Staffa is a legendary winery with 12 hectares on the edge of Lake Trasimeno, in the village of Montemelino in Umbria. Having spent over 60 years growing grapes to sell to a social cooperative, in recent years, under the current owner Danilo Marcucci, they have gone back to the glory years and started making delicious natural wines.
Della Staffa Litrò Bianco comes from vines planted on clay-limestone soils rich in humus, lying at 250-300 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using biodynamic agriculture with no systematic chemical products, instead using biological treatments that protect the ecosystem. The grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness and following the lunar phases.
Della Staffa Litrò Bianco is a natural wine that is vinified with minimal intervention. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with a 2-day maceration on the skins and then the wine is aged in fibreglass tanks. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtering, clarifying or adding sulphites.
Sold in an unusual one-litre format, Della Staffa Litrò Bianco is a wine that is easy to drink and difficult to forget. A fuller-bodied white than most because of the Grechetto grape and with a vibrant fragrance thanks to the Trebbiano.
