About Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya

Although their story is still being written, Dalla Valle Vineyard is already among the best wineries in the New World. This company was founded in 1986 by Italian Gustav Dalle Valle and his wife Naoko, who moved to Oakville, California, to start this project. As a result of this marriage, their daughter Maya was born, who soon gave her name to one of their best wines, the Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya.

Like Maya Dalla Valle, where the best of Italy and the best of Japan come together, Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya blends the most special Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, grown in the best selected blocks of each variety. In total, Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya grows in a total of 8 hectares on the eastern slopes of Oakville, on rocky soils, rich in iron and minerals and with a remarkable red colour, at an altitude between 400 and 450 metres above sea level. This area, located in California’s Napa Valley, is one of the most renowned in the world, where Maya Dalla Valle, who after the death of her father took on the business with her mother, is now committed to organic agriculture that is moving towards biodynamics.

Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya, considered one of the winery’s best sellers, has been produced since 1988. Since then, the production method has not changed. After meticulous harvesting, the Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya grapes are sorted and destemmed, and then vatted in tanks. This is where Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya ferments slowly, until it finally becomes wine and can be devatted. Following this process, where the wine is separated from the skins, Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya is transferred to French wooden barrels where it will spend almost two years maturing.

When the Dalla Valle couple arrived in the Napa Valley, lots of people were amazed to see how they planted vineyards against the high hills. Decisions like this have led them to great success, with some of their wines scoring 100 Parker points and gaining a reputation as one of the most prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon winemakers in the world. We hope that all of this has convinced you to try the Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya

2017

Dalla Valle Vineyard Maya 2017 is a mature, bright red with violet hues. The nose is very complex. It opens with notes of truffle, damp earth and crushed rocks, evolving to raspberries, thyme, rosemary and incense. The palate is structured, with firm, fine-grained and very fresh tannins. Blue and black fruits. Long finish.
