Corullón is a red wine produced by the Descendientes de J. Palacios in the D.O Bierzo in the village of Villafranca del Bierzo, León. The winery was founded by Álvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo back in 1999, who saw the potential of the region, as well as the local Mencía grape variety.
Corullón is the ´vino de pueblo´ of the winery, made exclusively with the Mencía grape variety planted on slate soils and slopes on land surrounding the village. The vineyards are cultivated organically, with no pesticides or herbicides being used.
The vinification process is carried out in wooden vats with a spontaneous fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation and then ageing in French oak barrels.
Corullón is a magnificent red wine that year after year manages to capture and express the feeling of each vintage, of the vines and of the village.
