Château La Serre

Château la Serre is a red wine made with 80% Merlot and the rest with Cabernet Franc from the AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru produced by Château la Serre.

Chateau La Serre is located on the outskirts of the town of Saint Émilion. The château takes its name from its south-facing position and the large number of hours of sunshine and the good temperatures it enjoys, since "La Serre" can be translated as "greenhouse". Château La Serre is owned by the Arfeuille family, but wine production is managed by the negociant Jean Pierre Moueix.

The vineyard for Château la Serre covers an area of 7 hectares planted in clay-sand soils with quartz stones from the Pyrenees. The average age of the vineyard is around 30 years. The vines are cultivated in a traditional way, and the harvest is carried out manually.

The Château La Serre harvest is selected in the field and in the cellar, and only the best bunches are vinified. The grapes are vatted in heat-regulated cement tanks coated with epoxy. A pre-fermentative maceration is then performed for a few hours followed by around 3 to 5 weeks of fermentation. The wine is then aged for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels.

Château La Serre is a pleasant and accessible Saint Emilion wine that may be consumed from today onwards for the next 15 years.
