Château Guillot Clauzel Pomerol is a coupage red wine of the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties produced by Château Guillot Clauzel under the AOC Pomerol in Bordeaux, France.
The Château Guillot Clauzel is a very small estate in Pomerolof only 1.7 hectares, even smaller than Château Le Pin, which it’s situated next to. It has plots of old vines where the soils are mainly composed of gravel, clay and “crasse de fer”, a kind of very firm and stony mixture of earth and metal with a high content of iron oxide which gives wines a very characteristic flavor, somewhat oily and metallic, which many associate with truffles.
The Merlot variety is grown in 80% and the Cabernet Franc variety in 20% of this vineyard. The extraordinary geographical situation of the Château Guillot Clauzel in Pomerol means that exceptional wines of very limited production are obtained from its vineyards, but they remain relatively unknown. In fact, information on this Château is not easy to find, making it an undiscovered treasure.
