Characteristics Campolargo Rol de Coisas Antigas
Campolargo Rol de Coisas Antigas is a barrel-aged red wine made by the Portuguese winery Campolargo with the Trincadeira, Bastardo and Baga varieties in the DOC Bairrada (Beiras).
Campolargo is a family winery that is characterised by being one of the most modern projects in Portugal, but that holds onto tradition at the same time. Four generations that over the years have produced quality wines where the grape is respected as much as possible during the winemaking process and no oenological products are added.
Campolargo Rol de Coisas Antigas comes from calcareous clay soils in an area marked by a climate with an Atlantic influence. They use organic farming at all times with organic treatments and biodynamic practices that do not harm the natural balance of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum moment of ripeness.
In the winery, the Campolargo Rol de Coisas Antigas grapes are partially destemmed. Then, fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts and with mechanical treading in lagares. Finally, the wine ages in used French wooden barrels for 12 months.
Campolargo Rol de Coisas Antigas (list of ancient things in Spanish) has a label showing how it was vinified in 1867. A journey through time that is still going today, making a red wine with good vigorous balance and a persistent finish.
