Mas d'en Blei is a small winery in the Priorat region. Located in La Morera de Montsant, it has 17 hectares of vineyards on the banks of the Siurana River where the winery and the old farmhouse (1756) blend in with the surroundings perfectly.
In 2006 the family Ferrús Guasch acquired this small property and together with the winemaker Jordi Torrella recovered its agricultural value by planting more than 20 thousand vines, mostly indigenous varieties such as Garnacha and Cariñena, in order to start producing quality craft wines.
Blei Liber is a red wine made with Garnacha and Carignan, from the Mas d'en Blei estate, with slate-containing soils and slopes facing south-west.
The grapes are harvested manually and placed in 10-kg boxes. After an initial selection, the grapes are destemmed and another selection is made berry by berry. Before the fermentation starts, they undergo cold maceration for 24 hours. Each variety is fermented separately, with native yeasts for 20-24 days with daily manual pigeage. The wine is aged for 14 months in 225 litre French oak barrels of medium grain and light medium toast. Before being put on the market, it is left to stand in the bottle for a minimum of 18 months.
