Berdié Reserva Brut Amor is a dry sparkling wine (less than 12 g/L of sugar). On the nose the primary aromas of white fruit, red fruits and citrus stand out. The palate is elegant and balanced, with very pleasant acidity. The milky notes of yeast add creaminess, with hints of flowers and spices.
There is strength in unity. And the Jovani brothers know that well. They each came from a different background: Robert worked in sales and marketing, Montsa came from the hotel business and Sergi, the most versatile, worked in multimedia, design and new technologies. Despite these differences, they persevered, and decided to join forces and take on the family winery. This happened in 2007 when, after helping their father on a Christmas campaign, the three brothers decided to quit their jobs and devote themselves fully to the winery. In fact, this effort, hard work and perseverance has led them to producing great cavas (some with high Parker scores), including Berdié Reserva Brut Amor.
The D.O. Cava is the place where the magic happens for this winery. This region, lying between the provinces of Barcelona and Tarragona (in northeast Spain), has the perfect conditions for cultivating vines. The calcareous soil, which was covered by water for years, contains a large amount of fossil remains. In terms of weather, the D.O. Cava is under the influence of several microclimates. For Bodegas Berdié, which lies in the Alt Penedès, the high rainfall and the great contrast between minimum and maximum temperatures result in high quality grapes that become luxury cavas.
In the winery, Berdié Reserva Brut Amor is vinified separately, with fermentation at low temperature (to preserve the aromas). After this process, the different cuvées are blended, maintaining the best proportion of each variety. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle, achieving a great carbonic integration. The wine then ages for more than 15 months in underground cellars.
