About Arrayán Syrah
Arrayán Syrah is a red wine made with the Syrah variety and produced in the D.O. Méntrida (Toledo) by Bodegas Arrayán
Located in the Toledo town of Santa Cruz de Retamar, Bodegas Arrayán started out in 1999 under the guidance of the Australian vineyard expert Richard Smart. Having analysed the topography, the soil, the climate and the most favorable orientations, they embarked on the adventure of planting their own vineyards using viticulture that respects the environment; a philosophy that continues within the winery at the hands of its oenologist Maite Sánchez.
The Syrah variety for Arrayán Syrah comes from a whole plot located at an altitude of between 470 and 510 metres. With essentially sandy and sandy-loam soils and with a continental-Mediterranean climate, organic farming is applied to achieve a more typical cultivation. The harvest is carried out manually into 20 kilo boxes, and is transported to the winery in a refrigerated trailer.
In the winery, the grapes pass over the selection table, are destemmed, and a cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for 2 days. Fermentation takes place for 20 days with its own yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Arrayán Syrah is then aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Arrayán Syrah is a red wine to be enjoyed unhurriedly, from the D.O. Méntrida .

2017 | Arrayán Syrah 2017 is a succulent red wine. Olfactorily, it is highly expressive, unveiling scents of violets, black olives, red fruits, and tar. On the palate, it retains this distinctiveness, with slightly grainy tannins. It's mineral-laden and spiced. Expansive and well-rounded. |
|
2013 | Arrayán Syrah 2013 is a red wine with aromas of flowers and spices characteristic of the variety on the nose, accompanied by a mineral nuance typical of the terroir. On the palate it is pleasant and sweet. It is a medium-bodied wine that is velvety and fresh, full of fruit, and with a long and flavoursome aftertaste. | |
2005 | Powerful attack and a silky and creamy mid palate. Its lively notes of fruit are released along with toasted and herbal aromas. Tannins have a good presence but they are well polished and well integrated. This wine shows a good finish which leaves notes of fruit and minerals. Intense maroon colour, with purple-maroon edges. High layer. Bright. Very intense aromas with an initial predominance of herbal notes, plants, and bushes. When aerated, it becomes an explosion of ripe fruit, flowers (violets), toasted, spiced and chocolate notes. Intense and very expressive mineral substance. |
|
2004 | On the palate ripe fruit and toasty notes. Dark cherry color. On the nose are aromas of fruit and toast. |
