About Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc

Throughout history there have been people who, despite their great achievements, have been overtaken by their children, who achieve even greater things. For example: Julius Caesar (one of the most renowned leaders in history) was outdone by Octavian, his adopted son, who was the first Roman emperor. Pepin the Short (King of the Franks) was outdone by his son Charlemagne, who is considered the father of Europe. And John F Kennedy, the US president assassinated in Dallas, was not the only son of businessman Joseph P Kennedy who managed to make a place for himself in the upper echelons of politics.

And not to be left behind, the world of wine also has some stories like this, including winegrower and winemaker François Jobard (who made the name famous) and his son Antoine Jobard (who is taking it to a whole new level). These two form the perfect partnership to produce wines like Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc, a white wine made through malolactic fermentation and time in barrels, in the AOC Bourgogne, specifically in the village of Mersault (in the Côte de Beaune).

Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc is a wine for aging with a very pure Burgundy style: It is made with 100% Chardonnay, no batonnage, and aged for two years in used wooden barrels. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered. The grapes come from the 5 hectares of vineyards that this father and son own in Mersault.

Although Antoine Jobard’s name has replaced his father’s both in the domaine and on the bottle labels, François Jobard is still an essential part of the wines they make. Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc is the best way to experience a 100% Burgundy wine.
