D.O. Penedès (Catalonia)
Altos Ibéricos Reserva is a red wine produced by Bodegas Torres in the municipality of Labastida, within D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Bodegas Torres is a family business that was founded in 1870 by Jaime and Miguel Torres Vendrell, and that has had several generations dedicated to the production of wine and brandy in Penedés. Currently, Bodegas Torres produces wines in many wine regions of the world. In Spain, it has 4 wineries of its own, in 4 other denominations of origin, Penedés, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat.
In 2005 the Torres family decided to establish its winery in the municipality of Labastida, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Altos Ibéricos takes its name from Alto Otero, where the winery is located.
Altos Ibéricos Reserva is a wine made with 100% Tempranillo from vineyards located in Rioja Alavesa.
Once the harvest is carried out, the grapes ferment in stainless steel deposits, with a controlled temperature of 26-28ºC for a week. When the fermentation has ended, it is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. Before it is launched on the market, it is left to stand in the bottle for a minimum of 20 months.
Altos Ibéricos Reserva is a deep, elegant and complex wine. On the nose, the aromas of ripe red fruits stand out, with toasted notes of the ageing process. In the mouth, it has a powerful entrance and a mid-palate with volume. A very long finish.
